Horizon Auction is a joint venture between the British firm Wilkes & Curtis Ltd and American firm Stephen Album Rare Coins. These sales will combine the vast knowledge and experience of the two companies and will focus on their key areas of expertise: Islamic and Indian coins. Their combined expertise will create a catalogue of specialized numismatic offerings expected to be second to none. The first sale will take place at the highly prestigious Grosvenor House, 86-90 Park Lane, in London. This will be Wilkes & Curtis' first live auction and the first auction held outside the United States by Stephen Album Rare Coins.
Steve has been serving the numismatic community since 1960. In 1976 he began dealing nearly exclusively in Islamic and Indian coins.
He has authored several books including the Catalogue of California Trade Tokens, Volumes I & II in 1972 and 1974 respectively. 1977 saw the release of his complete rewrite of Marsden's Numismata Orientalia Illustrata, a guide to Islamic and Oriental coins with values. In 1993 he published A Checklist of Islamic Coins, now is in its third edition, is the standard for collectors of Islamic coins.
Mr. Album is currently a senior fellow at the Worcester College, Oxford, England, and in this position has authored three of the ten volumes of the Sylloge of Islamic Coins in the Ashmolean (Museum) beginning in 1999.
In 2003 he was the recipient of the American Numismatic Society's Huntington Award, and is only one of three Islamists to have received this honor. He has twice been the recipient of the Samir-Shamma-prize for Islamic Numismatics, in 2000 and then in 2005. In May of 2004 the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen in Germany honored Mr. Album with a philosophiae doctoris honoris causae, an honorary doctoral degree in philosophy.

Currently one of the worlds top experts in Islamic coinage and a leading specialist in Indian and Crusader coins, Tim Wilkes embarked on his established career in numismatics having graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a Masters degree in history.
He joined London-based numismatic dealers and auctioneers, A. H. Baldwin & Sons Ltd, in 1998 and was appointed director in 2003. Over his ten-year career with the firm Tim was responsible for cataloguing a number of notable collections, including the W.C. Boyd Collection of English coins, the Michael Sarnefors Collection of Indian coins, and the Alistair Lilburn Collection of Crusader coins.
In 2008 Tim left Baldwin's to become an independent dealer specialising in Islamic, Indian, and Medieval coins. He has worked as an independent consultant for some of London's foremost numismatic auction houses.
Tim has served on the International Association of Professional Numismatists (IAPN) Executive Committee. Tim is also a member of the Royal Numismatic Society (RNS), the British Numismatic Society (BNS), Oriental Numismatic Society (ONS), and American Numismatic Association (ANA).
With his diverse and valuable knowledge and experience Tim is a well respected figure in the international world of numismatics.
Joe Lang began his numismatic career in 1980 working part-time at the Collector's Lounge in El Cajon, California with Harvey Rose and Jim Center while still in High School. He first became interested in Chinese coins working with Jim Center, a USN veteran that served in China before WWII. After graduation from university he began full time work in the numismatic profession with the firm of Cellar Coin in San Diego. In 1989 he left that firm to open his own numismatic company.
Joe joined Stephen Album Rare Coins in 2001 and merged his company with Steve Album shortly thereafter. It was under his management of the firm that Stephen Album Rare Coins began operating their successful auctions in 2007. He now directs the firm as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Joe is a preeminent specialist in world coins with expertise in East Asian and Indian Numismatics. He has been a contributing editor to various editions of Krause publication's Standard Catalog of World Coins, German Coins, and World Paper Money for more than 25 years. He has also contributed to past editions of the Monetary Research Institute's Banker's Guide to Foreign Currency. He has also given several lectures on numismatics for the American Numismatic Association and many other organizations.
Joe serves on the International Association of Professional Numismatists (IAPN) Executive Committee and is the chairman of the Anti-Forgery Committee. He also sits on meetings of the International Bureau for the Suppression of Counterfeit Coins (IBSCC). Joe is also a member of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), the Royal Canadian Numismatic Society (RNS), and life member of the Mumbai Coin Society amongst others.
